Exhibition
Participation
There are many children and young people who miss someone. Perhaps you also miss an important person. A dad or mom, a brother or sister, a grandparent, a friend, a pet, or someone else. Sometimes it's difficult to explain how much you miss that person and what exactly you miss most. We invite you to create something about this. Write a short story, a poem, or make a drawing about who you miss. On November 2, all submissions will be displayed around the large pond in Vondelpark. This way, you can see that more children miss someone, and it can be comforting to share that.
The idea behind "Who Do You Miss?" is to make the often invisible stories of children more visible and to share them in an accessible way. It shows that they are not alone and sheds light on what missing someone means for children. The stories will also implicitly encourage others to share their experiences.
Practical Information
You can participate (for all children and young people up to 18 years old) in "Who Do You Miss?" by writing or drawing (or both) about who you miss. In your own words, in your own way, however you feel comfortable. A short story, a few sentences, a poem—whatever fits best. Sometimes a drawing can also effectively show what missing someone means to you. Do you miss that person, or what you did together, or just having them around? We are curious to hear your story.
Take one sheet of white A4 paper and write or draw on one side of the paper.
Please include your name and age. You can also remain anonymous.
Contact details on the back are helpful, such as an email address or phone number.
Put your paper in an envelope and send your poem, story, or drawing to:
Who Do You Miss, Zwaluwstraat 24, 1171SP Badhoevedorp
Preferably by October 21! But if you're late, just send me an email.
If you only have text, you can also email it to me at info@wiemisjij.nl.
If you would like your submission back, please write your address on the back so I can send it to you.
If you want to share anything else, feel free to write it down.
On November 2, the submissions will be displayed around the large pond in Vondelpark, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. You are warmly welcome to come and see. But of course, you can decide for yourself if you feel like it.
On November 2, starting at 6:30 PM, you are also welcome to place a lit boat on the pond for the person you miss during All Souls' Day in Vondelpark.
